The British Columbia Food Premises Regulation details requirements that a food establishment must follow to ensure prevention of health hazards and the protection of public health. The regulation lists requirements regarding temperature control, maintenance, employee health & hygiene, cleaning & sanitizing, standards for equipment as well as record keeping tasks.
Like almost all Provinces the British Columbia Food Premises Regulation lists food handler training requirements.
British Columbia Food Safety Training Requirements
Every operator of a food business must hold a recognized food safety training certificate.
If operator is absent from the premises, at least one employee that has approved valid food safety certification must be present.
The SafeCheck Advanced Canadian Food Safety Certificate is approved in BC and across Canada. It is consider equivalent to FoodSafe 1 by the British Columbia Ministry of Health.
